Waterrock Knob is a short drive up the Blue Ridge Parkway from our RV Park. The elevation gain really drops the temperature and on this day that was certainly the case. It was like having air conditioning outside and was so refreshing. The mountain Laurel, Rhododendron and a few Flame Azalea are still blooming in the upper elevations. After a relaxing time there we drove down toward Cherokee and stopped for a walk on the Oconaluftee River Walk. There were no elk in the woods but we did manage to see a Pileated Woodpecker and some beautiful flowers. It doesn’t get much better than a walk in the woods.
