Another Day In Cade’s Cove
I had a wonderful time with a great wildlife photographer and friend yesterday in Cade’s Cove. I gained an appreciation for the effort it takes as we sat for hours watching a Barred Owl. We photographed a mama bear with three cubs from a safe distance and watched in amazement as mindless people put themselves between her and her cubs. After a 9:00 am start, three trips through the cove, lunch at Burger Master in Townsend, numerous bear-turkey-horse- deer and traffic jams of unknown origins we headed back across the mountains toward Oconaluftee Visitor’s Center. Of course we stopped to photograph a few elk, gave a photography lesson to a curious stranger and heard a bull elk bugle. I finally arrived home around 9:30-10:00 pm satisfied that we had done all we could to photograph wildlife in their natural habitat while respecting them.
